The importance of curiosity and emotional intelligence when working with adolescents

The following talks attempt to give and overview of adolescent development with a focus on the developmental stage of adolescents , It briefly touches on the neurodevelopmental stage of adolescents and the importance of the process of the brain development of an adolescent and how it links interpersonally to the importance of supporting the adolescent. The talk also covers the role of curiosity in supporting adolescents both and parents as well as clinicians.

Psychodynamic clinical psychologist based in Johannesburg, South Africa.I work predominantly from a psychoanalytic framework with an interest in relational psychoanalytic thinking. I also work shorter term in a private inpatient setting using dialetical behavioural therapy principles. My clinical work ranges from long term to shorter term interventions and I have experience working with individuals, couples , families and groups.
