At least one-third of the world are introverts. Introverts tend to prefer listening to speaking. Popular culture however tends to dramatically undervalue introverts and focus on the extrovert ideal.
Research notes that introversion and extroversion are preferences for different levels of stimulation. Introversion requires a change of stance from schools, parents, and the world of work as we recognise that many of the world’s most creative individuals and distinguished leaders are introverts.
It is useful to understand and appreciate the qualities of introverts often functioning in an extrovert-dominated culture.
