Inclusive Education: Upsetting the Applecart

In 2016, the South African government announced that it will ensure that students with disabilities are accommodated in mainstream schools by 2021. While this enactment of Education White Paper Six published in 2001 is not unexpected, it does raise significant questions about the preparedness of South African schools and educators for such an act.

In this course, Jeandre Cooke will examine the philosophy of Inclusion, sharing her experience in developing whole-school systems to support Inclusive Education. She will also provide practical suggestions and strategies for differentiating the curriculum to ensure that the needs of all learners are met, including those with barriers to learning and those who are gifted.
