The adolescent brain works and responds to the world differently from the brain of a child or the adult. There are significant differences in brain from the perspective of functioning, wiring and capacity. During the teen years, our brains change in the way we: remember, think, reason, focus attention, make decisions and relate to others.

These Neuro-developmental brain changes set up 4 characteristic qualities particular to adolescence namely:

  • Novelty seeking
  • Changes in social engagement
  • Increased emotional intensity
  • Changes in creative exploration.
