    Presenter: Vanessa Hemp (Clinical Psychologist)

Miserable adolescents have become a stereotype. It can be difficult to separate out “normal adolescent behaviour” from some of the traits of depression. The differences in presentation between adolescents and adults with depression will be highlighted in this workshop. Understanding the larger context of teens lives- the pressures they face, environmental stressors and impact of social media will be explored.

The developing teenage brain can further amplify the mental health challenges faced by teens. Therapeutic approaches to addressing and treating depression, suicide risk and self- harm will be explored.
