SERIES OVERVIEW:
Session 1: When Worry, Rituals and Rigidity Overlap: Understanding ASD, OCD and Anxiety
When every behaviour means something, how do we know what we’re really seeing?’ Anxiety, OCD, and Autism often share the same outward behaviours, yet the reasons behind them can be very different. This session looks beyond the behaviour to understand the child, offering a practical framework for recognising overlap, making sense of complexity and supporting children with greater confidence and compassion.
Dates & Times: Wednesday 07 October 2026 ; 19h00 – 20h00 (ZOOM)
Session 2: How to set effective boundaries for a child struggling with anxiety and/or behavioural difficulties
In today’s increasingly complex world, many parents are caught between wanting to protect their children from distress and wanting to help them become resilient, capable adults. This tension becomes even greater when a child struggles with anxiety, emotional dysregulation or behavioural difficulties. Parents often find themselves asking: Should I push them? Should I let it go? Am I being too strict or not strict enough? One of the most difficult challenges for parents is knowing when to be supportive and when to hold firm boundaries. When a child is anxious, parents naturally want to reduce distress. When a child has behavioural difficulties, parents often feel pressured to avoid conflict. However, excessive accommodation of anxiety or inconsistent responses to behaviour can unintentionally reinforce the very difficulties parents are trying to solve. Let’s discuss how to set effective boundaries for a child that may be struggling with emotional regulation difficulties.

Session 3: Understanding Borderline Personality Disorder
The diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) often evokes anxiety and apprehension among many therapists because of the complexity of the presentation and the intensity of the therapeutic relationship. This session will explore the developmental pathways that contribute to BPD, fostering greater empathy and a more informed approach to intervention. It will examine the key considerations for making an accurate diagnosis, differentiate BPD from other presentations, and provide practical guidance on the therapeutic stance, relational skills, and evidence based strategies that enable clinicians to work effectively and compassionately with this client group.
Dates & Times: Wednesday 21 October 2026 ; 10h00 – 20h00 (ZOOM)
