Conference 2022: Addressing Social and Emotional Learning Through the Application of Mediated Learning Experience (MLE)

Mediated learning experience (MLE) is the dynamic interactive relationship that facilitates meaningful cognitive development. MLE requires an active interaction between the individual, the mediator, and the objects and events in the environment. Working with children operates both implicitly and explicitly to interpret and elaborate the child’s direct experience with the world. In situations where developmental or environmental difficulties occur, it becomes necessary to overcome deficiencies and foster enhanced functioning. This presentation will identify the integration of process elements of therapeutic interaction that has MLE components as a foundational platform for promoting behavioural and cognitive change. A model for social cognition will be described. The second part will focus on applying the model presented in the first part, analysing vignettes of interactions, and mapping them according to the model.

1 CPD point will be awarded.
