This workshop includes the Unicornmaths programme which is a cumulative, structured, multi-sensory numeracy programme for the remediation of mathematical difficulties.

It is based on current research and understanding of dyscalculia, and will examine the underlying skill deficits that could affect the learning of mathematics.

The workshop will explore a variety of concrete resources that can be used to introduce each mathematical concept in a fully multi-sensory, interactive mode.

It will also investigate diagnostic mathematical assessments that inform the writing of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The workshop is appropriate for educators, remedial therapists and facilitators working with foundation phase learners, and with older pupils experiencing severe difficulty with numbers.
